Queen Alia International Airport, located about 35 km. dawn south of Amman city, It was inaugurated on 1983, it is considered an advanced international airport, providing services to traveling passengers through two passengers buildings, prepared and equipped with sophisticated passengers safety and comfort means, it is provided with all services in addition to Air cargos services, fitted with all safety and security requirements according to international standards measures.
The Airport is spread out along 22.000.000 square meters, it composed of two parallel runways with 1446 separation area between it, it is constructed for plane landing and take-off, it includes passengers buildings, cargo and services. Runways are 3660 meters long and 61 meters width.
Passengers departures and Arrival buildings consists of two twin buildings, each of which contains departure and arrival sections, and a passengers room where they wait entry to boarding gates.
In addition to offices and services and supporting rooms. Each building consists of three floors, of 68 000 square meters, connected with over-fly passage between the second floors, where there are the Free Market, each building to overlook an independent plane docking field, and each building fitted with 5 passengers gates to handle passengers traffic from the plane to airport, in addition there are an exit for each building to transport passengers to docking places which can accommodates 32 planes, and 4.5 million passengers/year.
Queen Alia International Airport accommodates 3.506.061 total passengers in 2006, of them 1.735.674 arrivals passengers. Plane flights and landings were 40.266. Cargo, exported and imported totals up to 91 Million Kg, and mail totals up to 1.48 million Kg during 2006. To maintain accurate operations of all flights in all weather conditions, the Airport is equipped with most modern technical equipments, instruments and tools of air flights to comply with standards and measures of IATA.
It is intented to make extensions to passengers buildings of around 83000 Meter square in the first stage to accommodate 9 Million passengers/ year, to accommodate ever increasing air flights.
Shopping Facilities
There is a comprehensive Duty and Tax Free offering in the airside areas with open access from both Terminal 1 and 2 operated to the highest international standards by Aldeasa. In the landside areas there is a range of retail outlets which includes CTN, souvenirs, bookshops, and specialist Arabic pastry offers.
Restaurants and Bars
Apha operates four of their branded World News Cafes, one in each terminal both landside and airside, in addition there are outlets operated by Pizza Hut and Popeyes, Cinnebon, Blue Fig and StarBox.
Business Services
Are available in the airline lounges, a Wireless internet system operates throughout the airport and Wi-Fi cards are available from the 4 World News cafes and public telephones.
Banking Services
Banks, currency exchange and ATMs facilities are available both landside and airside in both terminals.
Baggage storage facilities and lost and found operated by Royal Jordanian (RJ).
Lounges
Airport lounges in both terminals available for VIPs only and RJ operate lounges in both terminals these are open to all business and first class passengers as well frequent flyers according to the individual airline regulations.
Medical Facilities
There is a 7/24 medical centre available for all airport users. Transportation
